In a tender moment captured on video, Lizzy shared the news with her loving husband Kye that she had been accepted for treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center, one of the most renowned cancer facilities in the country.

With a heart overflowing with joy and relief, Lizzy Musi beamed as she shared the life-changing news: “I’ve been accepted!” With urgency in their steps, Lizzy and Kye hurriedly packed their bags. They had to quickly gather their belongings and make their way to Houston, where Lizzy would undergo a battery of tests and scans before starting treatment.

Every moment counted, and Lizzy knew that this was the first step on a long road, but she was determined to walk it with strength, courage, and unwavering hope.

Before undergoing treatment, the cancer fighter braced herself for one of the most challenging aspects of any cancer experience: losing her hair. With a voice filled with a hint of regret, she confessed, “Last night, my restless soul drove me to do something a little wild. I cut my hair, and now it’s shorter than I usually have it.”

Hair loss is a distressing experience for anyone, whether it’s due to cancer treatment or another illness. Unfortunately, some cancer treatments like chemotherapy and radiation can cause hair loss or thinning as a side effect.

This happens because these treatments target rapidly dividing cells throughout the body, which includes hair cells as well as cancer cells. The hair loss usually begins about three to four weeks after starting chemotherapy and continues throughout treatment. The impact of hair loss is not just limited to the scalp; it can also cause the loss of eyebrows and eyelashes, leaving you feeling self-conscious and questioning your self-esteem.

However, we want you to know that there is hope. Most people experience hair regrowth around four to six weeks after completing their treatment.
